Frommer's Review

Convenience and location form the cornerstones of the Delta Barrington, located just 1 block from the waterfront and 1 block from the Grand Parade and connected to the Metro Centre and much of the rest of downtown by a covered walkway. It's a large modern hotel but has been designed and furnished with an eye more to comfort than to flash. The guest rooms are decorated with a contemporary country decor, with pine headboards and country-style reproduction furniture. The king rooms are spacious, furnished with sofas and easy chairs. Some rooms face the pedestrian plaza and have been soundproofed to block the noise from the evening rabble, but these windows don't open (most other rooms have opening windows). The quietest rooms face the courtyard but lack a view. The hotel restaurant, the Stone Street Café, serves an attractive upscale menu of tea-smoked chicken breast, yogurt-crusted rack of lamb, seafood pappardelle, pistachio-crusted Arctic char, sesame salmon, and the like. Also ask about the hotel's affordable four-course "Seafood Festival" lobster dinner specials.

Facilities:
Restaurant; indoor pool; Jacuzzi; sauna; children's programs; concierge; room service; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
