The Bull has the edge, but this place is doing something right, as an inn has stood here since the 12th century. Fourteenth-century documents mention it as the spot where drinks were dispensed to revolutionaries during one of the peasants' revolts. The present building dates from the early 1800s and has been richly restored by its owners. All rooms are of a high standard with antique furnishings. The Black Lion overlooks one of the loveliest village greens in Suffolk.
