Getting There

At least 19 buses per day make the 1-hour trip from Málaga to Nerja, costing 3.60€ ($5.20) one-way. Service is provided by Alsina Graells. From Almería, seven buses run to Nerja, the trip taking 3 1/2 hours, costing 12€ ($18) for a one-way ticket. Call the bus station, Av. Pescia s/n (tel. 95-252-15-04), for information and schedules.

If you're driving, head along the N-340/E-15 east from Málaga or take the N-340/E-15 west from Almería.

Visitor Information

The tourist office at Puerta del Mar 2 (tel. 95-252-15-31; www.nerja.org) is open Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm and 4:30 to 7pm, Saturday 10am to 1pm.

Special Events

A cultural festival takes place here in July. In the past it has drawn leading artists, musicians, and dancers from around the world.
