Frommer's Review
This church is often referred to as a cathedral, but it really is a parish church built between 1894 and 1898 according to plans drawn up by architects Franz Langenberg of Germany and Richard Jordan of Vienna. The massive red-brick neo-Gothic building is the biggest structure in town. Its huge footprint now covers the spot first occupied by a wooden chapel (1698) and then a small baroque church. The current structure covers nearly 1,062 sq. m (3,500 sq. ft.) and includes an 82m-tall (270-ft.) bell tower that is almost as high as the towers in Dakovo. The church on Osijek's main square has five Gothic altars. Its ceilings and walls are covered with sacral paintings.

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
