This upscale resort company offers an interesting twist on luxury accommodations. The Bedwell River Outpost package features safari-style luxury tent accommodations located a short boat or plane ride from Tofino on the Bedwell River. Twenty canvas platform tents, beautifully furnished with Adirondack-style furniture, Oriental rugs, antiques, and other comforts, serve as guest rooms and suites, while dining tents, a lounge tent, games tent, and even a library tent offer visitors a taste of upscale camping. The heart of the outpost is the ranch-style log cookhouse, with a towering double-sided fieldstone fireplace in the open-kitchen attended by chef Timothy May. A range of activities such as horseback riding, sailing, kayaking, and fishing are included in the package. After a full day's adventure, retreat to the three spa treatment tents for a massage or a revitalizing soak in a wood-fired hot tub. Most packages also include return airfare from Vancouver. Note: Clayoquot Wilderness Resort's floating resort on Quoit Bay is temporarily closed for refitting.
