Frommer's Review
No matter which room you book at this beautiful inn of cedar, stone, and glass, you'll wake to a magnificent view of the untamed Pacific. The Wick, as it's affectionately known, is on a rocky promontory, surrounded by an old-growth spruce and cedar rainforest and the sprawling sands of Chesterman Beach. Perennially ranked as one of the top inns in North America, the Wick succeeds by blurring the distinction between outdoors and indoors through art, furnishings, architecture, and building materials. Rustic driftwood furniture, richly printed textiles, and local artwork highlight the rooms, each of which features a private balcony, oceanfront view, fireplace, down duvet, soaker tub and stone-lined shower, and luxurious bath amenities. Special-occasion suites, particularly the Canopy Suite with custom-made furniture, "seashore" bathroom, and fiber-optic sky-scape of the summer solstice above the bed, are truly fantastic. The new Wickaninnish On the Beach is a major expansion of the inn that adds a health-club facility and library to the resort, in addition to 30 more luxury-level guest rooms. Winter storm-watching packages have become so popular that the inn is nearly as busy in winter as it is in summer. The Pointe Restaurant is one of the top dining rooms in western Canada. The staff can arrange whale-watching, golfing, fishing, and diving packages. Affiliated with Aveda, the inn's Ancient Cedars Spa offers a host of packages and beauty and relaxation treatments.
