Frommer's Review

You'll see a lot of tourists here, but the lively, colorful atmosphere isn't an overrated experience; however, let it be known that the food is overpriced for what you get. The lofty steel barn of a building is home to the central fish and vegetable market, as well as simple seafood restaurants that serve Chilean traditional lunches such as paila marina, a seafood stew cooked with cilantro; ceviche, fish cooked in lemon juice; and the much-adored loco (abalone). Strolling musicians and garrulous vendors provide the soundtrack noise while waiters in bow ties bustle about. The best and easiest-to-find restaurant here is Donde Augusto.
