Frommer's Review
Chic yet true to the utterly charming, historical neighborhood in which it is located, Zully is one of those places travelers delight in discovering. The restaurant is tucked away in the Concha y Toro neighborhood that is not on the typical tourist map. Zully fills four floors of a lovingly restored old mansion, untouched on the exterior yet updated inside with trendy murals, halogen lights, and a whimsical, individual decor in each room; there's also an interior patio on the ground floor, and a wine-tasting cellar. The chef continually retools the menu, inventing fusion-style cuisine whose influences span the globe, and it must be said that the food is inconsistent. I've had many memorable meals here, but other times the quality has been just so-so (especially considering the price). No matter, you won't be sorry you taxied over when you lay eyes on this architectural gem. Their terrace, unfortunately, is only open to parties of 20 or more, but ask if you can pop up there to get a good view of the city. Zully is frequented by grown-up hipsters and the city's glitterati at night. It's best to take a taxi here at night; during the day you can take the Metro to the stop República, walk out the north exit and head east 1 1/2 blocks to Calle Concha y Toro, and turn left.
