Frommer's Review
Have you ever had a favorite haunt that you felt inclined not to promote in fear of letting the secret out? This is mine. Le Flaubert is a petit French/Chilean bistro whose understated elegance and romantic, Proven*ccedil;al-style ambience is the ideal address for a date or intimate meal among friends. The plant-filled outdoor dining area in the back patio is soothing and cool on a hot day, and the waitstaff is mindful without being overbearing. Le Flaubert offers five appetizers and as many main dishes presented on a chalkboard, with delicious fare such as duck confit, crab casserole, and a recommended sea bass with a shrimp and avocado sauce. From Monday to Friday there is a fixed-price lunch with appetizer and main course for $11 (£5.25), and Le Flaubert offers a daily afternoon tea from 4:30 to 8pm, with cakes and scones. Their on-site "Emporio" shop sells local cheeses, marmalades and other handmade foodstuffs. This is one of the only restaurants in Providencia that is open on Sunday; they have a takeout service, and will deliver for free if you're within 2 blocks of the restaurant.
