Don't overlook Peruvian food during your stay in Chile: Peru is widely regarded as home to the best cuisine in Latin America after Mexico, and the place to sample the country's spicy, delicious concoctions is at Barandiaran. This is the third and the newest Barandiaran restaurant, and the best in terms of service, its attractive yet casual ambience, and location. Because it is tucked away in the Patio Bellavista arts-and-crafts market, you can shop till you drop and then refuel on superbly prepared ceviche, fried calamari, parihuela (sea bass stew), or tender lamb in a cilantro puree. There's also lots of patio seating. Contrary to popular belief, the pisco sour originated in Peru, and the ones served here will knock your socks off.
