Frommer's Review
Housed in an antique building that feels like an old home, the quirky, low-cost Hotel Foresta is reminiscent of a European budget hotel. The hotel enjoys a prime location for both the neighborhood's antique, cafe-filled charm and its proximity to downtown attractions, and the Foresta is also around the corner from some of the only restaurants open at night in the downtown area. Also, the hotel faces the leafy slope of Cerro Santa Lucía park. Rooms are clean but dated. Avoid single rooms and most interior-facing rooms, which are dark and tiny; opt instead for a "matrimonial" that faces Calle Subercaseaux -- these are large enough to be junior suites. Each room is decorated differently with an eclectic mix of furniture that looks like flea market purchases. Service is friendly, but the staff speaks little English and is not very helpful with tourist information.
