The Park Plaza calls itself a boutique hotel, but the uniformed bellhops and traditional decor (not to mention 104 rooms) make it a midsize hotel known for its personalized service. The hotel's salient feature is its perfect location on a tree-lined street just 1 block from Providencia's shops and services. The hotel has a traditional decor, with Oriental rugs, brocade fabrics, wingback chairs, and wood-paneled walls. While the hotel is kept spotlessly clean, its claim of luxury guest rooms is a stretch, and many of the guest rooms and bathrooms are musty and are beginning to show wear and tear. Still, the rooftop pool is a nice perk, and you simply can't beat the location. If you are looking for a little more independence, the Plaza's Park Suite Apartments around the corner (Lota 2233) are a good deal at $100 (£64) for a one-bedroom. They each come with fully furnished kitchenettes, seating areas, and full use of the hotel facilities. Prices are reduced for multiday stays.
