Frommer's Review
While the exterior of the new Ritz-Carlton is remarkably plain when compared to other hotels in the city, this is undoubtedly Santiago's most posh hotel. That said, this Ritz does not stand up to its counterparts worldwide, due to inconsistency with staff service: The bellhops are a delight, and the front desk courteous, but service is slow and the concierge staff could stand to be a little friendlier. Still, the best thing about this Ritz is that it is more economical than its counterparts elsewhere, and the Ritz enjoys a more convenient location than the Hyatt given its proximity to fine restaurants, a Metro station, and a thriving economic hub of Santiago.
The interiors are luxurious in the Ritz-Carlton fashion, and the hotel has a fabulous rooftop health center under a glass dome that boasts a view of the city and the Andes. The hotel's lobby, which has a two-story rotunda and floors made of imported marble with a Mediterranean-style black-and-gold inlay, leads to the hotel lounge and a plush wine bar. In the spotless guest rooms, the beds are heavenly comfortable. The Ritz's bar/restaurant 345 has quite possibly the best wine list in Santiago, and they've taken to hosting special weekend cocktail hours that are a lot of fun.
