Frommer's Review
I can't stop gushing about this new "petit" B&B. Oddly, boutique hotels and B&Bs never quite caught on in this city, but with the introduction of Vilafranca my guess is that will change soon. Housed in a superbly refurbished old mansion, the Vilafranca provides travelers with a more personalized lodging option brimming with character and coziness, at a price that's reasonable. As with any B&B, the feeling that you're bunking in an old home is clearly evident, yet the young Spanish owners who launched this hotel in 2004 have a penchant for French Proven*ccedil;al design, and they have bestowed the interiors with lovely old antique armoires and nightstands, fresh white linens, and walls painted in soothing tones of ecru and decorated with dried sprigs of flowers and simple sketch art. And what a value -- for such a gorgeous hotel, it is hard to believe that a double costs just $67 (£34) a night, but then many rooms are very small. Common areas include a living room with overstuffed sofas, and a cobblestone patio fringed in greenery.
