Located on the outskirts of the Old Town on the road to Pontevedra, this reliable Spanish tavern, housed in a three-story town house, enjoys a devoted clientele, many from industry, politics, and the arts. Beyond the large bar near the entrance and display cases filled with fresh fish, you'll find the baronial stone-trimmed dining room. A wide variety of fish is available -- fresh sardines, three different preparations of salmon, a zarzuela (seafood stew), and eels. Two kinds of paella are served, and nonfish dishes such as partridge and rabbit are also on the menu. The restaurant was founded in 1915 as a small eating house. Back then, it was on the outskirts of town, but it was enveloped by the city long ago. Today, the restaurant is run by the grandsons of the original founders.
