The heavily buttressed foundation that prevents this cliff-side hotel from plunging into the sea looks like something from a medieval monastery, and it was landscaped to include several rambling gardens along the precipice. A set of steps and a private elevator lead to the wooden deck of a bathing wharf. Inside, a substantial collection of Oriental carpets and armchairs provides plush comfort. The guest rooms come in a variety of shapes and sizes, each containing a compact tiled bathroom.
