Planning a TripGetting There Daily, 43 trains make the 1- to 1 1/4-hour trip to and from the Barcelona-Sants station. There are no direct trains between Madrid and Tarragona; from Madrid, you have to go first to Barcelona, where you change trains for Tarragona. In Tarragona, the RENFE office is in the train station, Plaza Pedrera s/n (tel. 90-224-02-02; www.renfe.es). From Barcelona, there are 10 buses per day to Tarragona (trip time: 1 1/2 hr.); from Valencia, 10 buses (trip time: 3 1/2 hr.); and from Alicante, 6 buses (trip time: 6 1/2 hr.). Call tel. 97-722-91-26 in Tarragona for more information. To drive, take the A-2 southwest from Barcelona to the A-7, and then take the N-340. The route is well marked. This is a fast toll road. The one-way cost of the toll road from Barcelona to Tarragona is 9€. Visitor Information The tourist office, at Calle Major 39 (tel. 97-725-07-95; www.tarragonaturisme.es), is open April to October Monday to Saturday 9am to 9pm, Sunday 10am to 2pm; off-season hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 2pm and 4 to 7pm, Sunday 10am to 2pm.
