Colorado Ski Museum-Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame

The history of more than a century of Colorado skiing -- from the boards that mountain miners first strapped on their feet to the post-World War II resort boom, to Coloradans' success in international racing and the Olympics -- is depicted in this popular showcase. Also included is the 40-year-plus evolution of snowboarding, plus the role of the U.S. Forest Service. There's one room devoted to the 10th Mountain Division, the only division of the military trained in ski warfare. A theater presents historical and current ski videos. The museum incorporates the Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame, with plaques and photographs honoring Vail founder Peter Seibert, filmmaker Lowell Thomas, Olympic skier Buddy Werner, and others.
