A splurge that many Beaver Creek visitors consider one of the highlights of their stay is the sleigh-ride dinner trip (or in summer, on horseback) to Beano's. This isn't the log homestead that Chicago lettuce farmer Frank "Beano" Bienkowski built on Beaver Creek Mountain in 1919 -- it's far more elegant. Diners board the 42-passenger, Sno-Cat-driven sleighs at the base of the Centennial Lift, arriving 20 minutes later for a candlelit five-course dinner around a crackling fire with musical entertainment. The menu varies, but entree choices might include selections such as grilled Colorado tenderloin of beef, balsamic-marinated ostrich, grilled Atlantic salmon, wood-grilled venison loin chop, and Colorado lamb loin. Vegetarian meals and a lower-priced children's menu are available.
