New Photo Book Captures the World's Beautiful Beaches from Above

Showing off views ordinarily reserved for seagulls and parasailers, the aptly titled new book Bliss: Beaches (Cameron + Company) features aerial images of gorgeous shorelines around the world.

According to the publishers, the tome takes readers on a visual journey "from the coastlines of California, Hawaii, Florida, and Mexico to the idyllic shores of French Polynesia, Andalusia, the Amalfi Coast, and beyond." (French Polynesia's Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa is pictured above.)

The dazzling photography is the work of Randall Kaplan, who's also an entrepreneur and the founder of Sandee, an online database of beaches that compiles exhaustive information (location, water quality, weather, amenities, nearby food options, and much more) for thousands of sun-kissed locations across scores of countries.

So it's safe to say Kaplan knows a thing or two about impressive stretches of sand and sea. In fact, he calls himself "Mr. Beach"—not to be confused with Dr. Beach (no relation), the coastal scientist (real name: Stephen Leatherman) known for his annual ranking of the best beaches in the United States.

Seeing pristine coasts from above, as in Kaplan's book, gives you the chance to take in all the eye-popping scenery at once—turqouise water, golden sand, and verdant tropical foliage.

The quick hit of serenity supplied by each shot might help keep you going until your next beachy getaway—or inspire you to plan one.
