Just in time for the release of The Crown's fourth season on Netflix, the Drake hotel in Chicago has put together a royal package that takes our still-burning cultural obsession with Princess Diana to verging-on-pathological extremes.
The hotel's "Crowning a Lady" offer commemorates the three-day period in June 1996 when the Princess of Wales stayed in the Presidential Suite at the Magnificent Mile landmark while in town to raise money for cancer research. (The photo above shows her entering the hotel.)
Well-heeled guests can spend two days sleeping where Diana slept, eating what she ate, and even smelling what she preferred to smell—the package includes a bottle of her favorite perfume (Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant Paris) and a suite decorated with forget-me-nots, her eerily prescient favorite flower.
Naturally, accommodations are in the Princess Diana Suite—named in her honor after her stay—a 1,500-square-foot space with crystal chandeliers, a marble foyer, and huge windows overlooking Lake Michigan.

Diana asked for the room to be equipped with a stationary bike and lots of mineral water, so those will be there as part of the package, too, along with a photo book celebrating Abba, her favorite band.
Among the culinary inclusions: afternoon tea service and a three-course dinner for up to six guests at the hotel's elegant Palm Court.
Hope you're not allergic to anything the princess consumed 24 years ago because once again, her tastes set the menu: rose pouchong tea, king salmon, soufflé glace, and a peach bellini, among other items.
According to press materials, the Crowning a Lady experience culminates in "White Glove Service to view [the] original and authentic signature from Princess Diana in the Official Drake Autograph Book."
This stalker-quality package can be yours for the princely sum of $32,000.
At these prices, it seems like you should also get a souvenir doll made from stray blonde hairs found on Diana's pillow.
The Drake's Dianapalooza is available through December 15. To book, make arrangements with your banker and then call the hotel directly at 312/787-2200.
