Coombs Inn and Suites
A large inn occupying three Victorian villas, Coombs is furnished with four poster beds, Oriental carpets, original gilt-framed oil paintings, 15 original carved fireplaces, and hardwood floors. Its spacious verandas are shaded by large oak trees. While it’s gotten a bit creaky over the years (maintenance could be better), some units have kitchens and private verandas, a big plus. Quiet hours are from 9pm to 9am. Loaner bikes for touring the historic district and beach chairs for an afternoon on the white beaches of adjacent St. George Island are free to guests. A major truck route, U.S. 98, runs along the north side of both houses; request a south room to escape the periodic road noise.
