Hôtel Le Cep
Beaune and its surrounds have their fair share of luxury accommodation, and this is our favorite. Five-star Le Cep, which takes its name from the roots of a vine, is created from several adjoining hôtels particuliers dating from the 16th century (Louis XIV stayed in one). The atmosphere here is of old-fashioned luxury with first-class service to match. The 29 suites, each individually designed in traditional French style and furnished with antiques, have Nespresso machines and a Night Cove (high-tech lamps that emit special light frequencies), which helps guests to sleep and wake up naturally. Its spa, Marie de Bourgogne, has won international awards, and the restaurant, Loiseau des Vignes, has a Michelin star. Top class all round.
