This place, smack bang in the historic center, is a treat. Sit on a red banquette in the main dining room or in the picturesque inner courtyard, and the waiter will bring you a blackboard chalked up to the gunnels with the day’s dishes: snail tart, pork in parmesan batter, beef in Cognac sauce, caramelized sweetbreads, not mention desserts like profiteroles, pineapple meringue and panna cotta—and it’s all delicious! On some Saturday nights (check their facebook page), the restaurant evolves into a lively bar where French-style street food—think mini croque monsieurs (cheese and ham toasties), burgers, and cordon bleus (chicken nuggets stuffed with ham and melty cheese)— are washed down with cocktails.
