What do you get when you combine an owner with a penchant for contemporary art and design, with an exquisite 19th century hotel particulier (mansion)? That would be the Yndo. And because owner Agnès Guiot du Doignon has such good taste, the mash up of molded ceilings and exposed beams with vibrant Murano chandeliers, bold contemporary furnishings (like whale-tail chairs by trendsetting designer Huber Le Gall) and dozens of paintings, works. Guestrooms have unique touches, too, like round showers that follow the curve of the building’s tower, bathtubs lit by skylights, and modern four poster beds. There are several categories of rooms, from more sedate (but wonderfully woodsy) “cozy” ones, to “crazy” rooms and suites that are a riot of colors. The Yndo is on a quiet side road only a few minutes’ stroll from place Gambetta and the lovely shops on rue Judaïque.
