Hotels in Catacamas
In Gulacho
Where to Stay & Eat -- There is a small selection of hotels and restaurants in town, all quite simple. Hotel Mi Palacio (tel. 504/2989-9130; L180 double), right at the triangle, was built in 2005 and still has that new feeling. They offer a dozen basic rooms with hot showers, TVs, and fans. To eat, try Restaurante El Muelle (no phone), also at the triangle, which dishes out set lunch and dinner plates -- usually a choice of chicken or beef. Comedor Sharon (no phone), serves típica plates and can help you find guides to hike La Picucha.
In Yoro
Where to Stay & Eat -- Lodging and food in Yoro is quite basic, but it is sufficient for a night or two. Try Hotel Palace Inn (tel. 504/2671-2229; www.hotelpalaceinn.blogspot.com; L250 double) on the main road for a clean room with private hot-water bathroom and free Wi-Fi. For lunch and dinner, I hope you like típica, because that is all there is in the few restaurants surrounding the Parque Central.
