Hilltribe Museum & Education Center

Especially if you plan to visit one of the region’s hill-tribe communities, devote an hour-and-a-half to learning more about these minority groups, their struggles, and their beliefs. Kick things off with a 20-minute slideshow on the hill tribes before wandering through the informative collections which shows native clothing and explains the traditions that each group follows. The museum is run by the Population & Community Development Association (PDA), and it's worth asking a staff member to speak about the group's community efforts and offering an opinion on what the future looks like for hill tribe people. Book a trekking tour with PDA while you’re there; they have superb programs, ones are beyond the norm in terms of both ethics and service—.
