Gaelic Games

Hurling and Gaelic football are both played on summer Sunday afternoons at Cork's Pairc Ui Chaoimh Stadium, Marina Walk (tel. 021/201-9200). The stadium recently underwent a €30-million redevelopment. Check the local newspapers for match listings or log on to the Gaelic Athletics Association's website at www.gaa.ie.

Go to the dogs, as they say in Cork, only now in distinctly 21st-century style, at the Cork Greyhound Stadium, Curraheen Park, Cork (tel. 021/454-3095), on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 8pm. Admission is around €10.

Horse Racing

The nearest racetrack is Cork Racecourse, Killarney Road, Mallow (tel. 022/50207; www.corkracecourse.ie), approximately 32km (20 miles) north of Cork. Races are scheduled year-round, but particularly in mid-May, July, August, early October, and November.
