Black-and-white portraits of movie stars adorn the walls of this friendly little bistro in the center of Athlone. The menu doesn’t present too many surprises, but it’s all done very well—roast pork glazed with honey and mustard, lamb shank with garlic and herb mashed potato, or perhaps roast duck with plum sauce. For dessert, try the Toblerone cheesecake and warm chocolate sauce—it’s made with a Swiss chocolate-bar brand that's been popular here since the '70s. The set menu is a pretty good deal at €24 for two courses, €29 for three (served all night Mon–Fri, or until 6pm Fri–Sat).
