Ireland West Airport Knock in Charlestown, County Mayo (www.knockairport.com; 094/936-8100), is becoming quite a popular hub for budget airlines from the U.K. Flybe (www.flybe.com; 037/1700-2000 in the U.K. only) runs daily scheduled flights from London, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Birmingham, and Bristol. There are also a handful of scheduled flights from airports in France, Spain, Italy and Croatia—but none from other points within Ireland.

Trains from Dublin and other major points arrive daily at Westport in Mayo. The train station in Westport is on Altamont Street; about a 10-minute walk from the town center. 

Bus Éireann (www.buseireann.ie; 096/71800) runs daily bus service to major towns in Mayo. There is also express service from Galway into most Mayo towns.

If you're traveling by car, Mayo can be reached by four major highways: N84 from the south; N59 from the south and north; and N5 and N60 from the east.
