Frommer's Staff

On a steep slope overlooking the Waterford estuary, about 32km (20 miles) west of Wexford, this large tower house was built around 1450 by the Knights Hospitallers of St. John, one of the two great military orders of the Crusades. The castle has been restored and turned into a heritage information center, with displays on the Crusader knights, medieval monks, and Norman nobles.
