In an island of few true luxury properties, this little jewel may be Curaçao's most upscale resort (and its priciest), with pampering service to match. It's on the island's southern flank, right on the water, with a private manmade lagoon that's fed by the sea but calm and placid for swimming. The resort's three pool villas offer private pools and utter privacy (two have two bedrooms/two baths; the Villa Bunga Flamboyan has four bedrooms and three baths). If you want to be closer to the sea, the two oceanfront villas and three oceanview villas offer luxurious quarters in tropical gardens with three bedrooms each and private access to the infinity pool. All villas come with smartly outfitted, contemporary kitchens. Of the four suites, two one-bedroom units offer sea views and a shared Jacuzzi. The three standard hotel rooms are nestled in lush gardens; one, the Banyan Tree Loft, comes with a fully equipped kitchen and an extra double bed. All have balconies or terraces, and all are dressed to the teeth with luxury linens and Asian-inspired furnishings. You'll dine well in the resort's beachside restaurant, Baoase Culinary Beach Restaurant & Bar, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The resort's 15 units will expand to 25 in May 2015 with the completion of 10 new luxury suites—each with outdoor showers, private pools, and access to a private beach—located in a secluded section of the resort.
