Planning a trip to D-Day Beaches

Arriving -- A car is practically essential to explore the D-Day Beaches at leisure. Each monument, museum, and beach has plenty of parking, too.

Nomad buses (nomad.normandie.fr; [tel] 02-22-55-00-10) runs buses from Bayeux to Arromanches (no. 121) and from Bayeux to Omaha Beach and the American Cemetery (no. 120) every few hours for 3.90€ per trip.

Several group tours also cover the D-Day Beaches. From Bayeux, Normandy Tours, Hotel de la Gare (www.normandy-landing-tours.com; tel. 02-31-92-10-70), runs a 4-to-5-hr.  our (in English) to Arromanches, Omaha Beach, the American Military Cemetery, and Pointe du Hoc for 75€-87€ adults and 65€-77€ students from April to October. 

Visitor Information -- The Office de Tourisme, 4 rue Maréchal-Joffre, Arromanches-les-Bains (www.bayeux-bessin-tourisme.com; tel. 02-31-22-36-45), is open daily year-round but from January to February and November to December it’s open only on Saturday and Sunday.
