By Plane -- Service to Derry Airport (www.cityofderryairport.com; 028/7181-0784) is provided by the budget airline Ryanair (www.ryanair.com; 0818/303030 in Ireland, 0871/246-0000 in the U.K.) from London Stanstead, Liverpool, and Glasgow, plus a limited service to and from Majorca in Spain.

By Train -- Northern Ireland Railways (www.translink.co.uk; 028/9066-6630) operates frequent trains from Belfast, which arrive at the Londonderry/Derry Station—known by everyone as Waterside Railway Station (028/7134-2228), on Duke Street, on the east side of the Foyle River. The journey takes about 2 hours. A free Linkline bus brings passengers from the train station to the city center.

By Bus -- The fastest bus between Belfast and Derry, the no. 212, operated by Ulsterbus (www.translink.co.uk; 028/9066-6630), takes just under 2 hours. Ulsterbus also has service from Portrush and Portstewart. From the Republic, Bus Éireann (www.buseireann.ie; 091/562000) offers a few buses a day from Galway (about 5 1/2 hours), Cork (between 7 and 9 hours) and Dublin (around 6 hours). Most of the long-distance routes involve changes.
