Aside from the museum and observatory listed below, most fill their visit here simply driving out into the desert—there’s just one main road—to explore the wild scenery. The Cusco area has several viewpoints, like the Laberintos del Cusco near the observatory and Ventanas 4km on, that look over the red rock formations that seem much more Utah than South America. At Los Hoyos, there is a strategically placed swimming hole fed by a natural spring that is the perfect cool-off point during the blazing heat of the day.
