This dreamy village awakens for 10 days in July for the Kinderzeche (Children's Festival), which commemorates the saving of the village by its children in 1632. According to the story, the children pleaded with conquering Swedish troops to leave their town without pillaging and destroying it -- and got their wish. The pageant includes concerts given by the local boys' band dressed in historic military costumes. For more information, check out www.kinderzeche.de.
