Morae Shigae (Hourglass) Park
Gangneung city and Samsung Electronics built this park in 1999 in celebration of the new millennium. It houses the world's largest hourglass (which is actually circular in shape -- it takes an entire year for all the sand to fall). Fun fact: The Korean word for "hourglass" translates to "sand clock." It is rotated every year at midnight on January 1.
