Unification Park
In 1996, a North Korean submarine was stranded on the rocks at this spot. The 26-member crew got out of the submarine and tried to return to the north, leading to a deadly manhunt that lasted over a month. All but one crew member was killed and there were 17 South Korean casualties. When you see the sub, which is on display here, you may wonder how they managed to squeeze in that many people. The park also houses a U.S. warship from the Korean War, given by the Americans as a gift in 1972.
