Jurassic Park in Asturias -- Dinosaur buffs from around the world flock to one of the most extensive dinosaur museums in the world, Musée del Jurásico del Asturias ★★★, San Juan de Duz at Colunga (tel. 90-230-66-00; www.museojurasicoasturias.com), 32km (20 miles) east of Gijón and 40km (25 miles) northeast of Oviedo. The 209km (130-mile) stretch of sandy beaches and towering cliffs along this coast have produced so many dinosaur bones that the area is dubbed "the Dinosaur Coast." In all, 800 fossils, representing dinosaurs that inhabited the earth 65 million to 280 million years ago, are displayed in a trio of large exhibition spaces. The bones are presented in life-size versions, and the museum itself is built in the shape of a big hoof print. Admission is 6€ adults, 4€ children 4 to 11 and seniors 66 and up. From June 21 to September 21, hours are daily 10:30am to 2:30pm and 4 to 8pm. Off-season visits are possible Wednesday to Sunday 10:30am to 2:30pm and 4 to 7pm.
