Planning a trip to Girona
More than 20 trains run daily between Barcelona and Girona. The trip takes around 40 minutes on AVE and Avant high speed trains, costing between 9€ and 20€. All trains arrive at the station on Plaça Espanya.
There are several buses a day from Barcelona’s El Prat Airport or Estació del Nord, operated by Sagalés (tel. 90-213-00-14). The trip takes 1 hour 45 minutes and costs 13€ to 17€.
If you arrive by car, don’t attempt to cross the river into the old city. Use one of the large free carparks surrounding Parc de la Devesa.
There are tourist offices at either end of the old city. The Oficina de Turismo, at Rambla de la Llibertat, 1 (tel. 97-201-00-01), is open Monday to Friday 9am‒8pm, Saturday 9am‒2pm and 3‒7pm, and Sunday 9am‒2pm. The Punt de Benvinguda, Carrer Berenguer Carnicer, 3 (tel. 97-221-16-78), is open April to October Monday to Saturday 9am‒5pm, Sunday 9am‒2pm, and November to March Monday to Friday 9am‒3pm, weekends 9am‒2pm. In addition to providing information on lodging, dining, attractions, and transport, the welcome center offers guided tours.
