Gyantse is famous for its carpets and there are plenty of shops around town, although you'll have to sift through hundreds of garish designs to find anything tasteful. If you're in need of more warm weather apparel then Outside Outdoor Sports on the eastern side of Yingxiong Lu has a decent selection of genuine and not-so-genuine gear. To stock up on snacks there's a small supermarket, Baccarat Shopping Mall, on Shanghai Xi Lu, just west of the intersection with Yingxiong Lu.
