Restaurants in Hanga Roa

Easter Island is the place to savor Pacific fish -- you simply ask what's fresh and order it. The restaurant Merahi Ra'a has a menu with photos of Easter Island's native fish types. A popular side dish is camote, which is similar to a sweet potato, and taro, a starchy root. Another in-and-out cheap meal can be found at Motu Hava, in a converted trailer on Policarpo Toro street next to the school playing field, with fresh ceviche, sandwiches, and simple pasta dishes. Lastly, Empanadas Tía Berta serves fabulous fried empanadas made of tuna, seafood, cheese, and meat, and salads and simple dishes. Look for the sign on the main street Atamu Tekena on your left-hand side almost before reaching the gas station.
