Beaches
Parts of the peninsula are so narrow, especially between Chaupy and Kuznica, you could be caressed by the breeze from the Baltic Sea, then cut through pine woods and be facing Puck Bay on the other shore of the peninsula in just 5 minutes. In all of the villages, you will find signs and pathways leading to beaches.
Deep-Sea Fishing
In the villages, you'll find outfitters taking tourists out for cod fishing in the Baltic Sea. Marian Wisniewski (Kliprów 1, Chapowo, Wadysawowo; tel. 604/992-298; www.neptun.intermedia.net.pl) is a merry, white-bearded sailor who runs such an operation year-round. He charges 150 z per person. If you're on your own, he'll slip you in with a group. The vessel leaves Port Wadysawowo at 7am and returns 8 to 9 hours later. There's coffee, tea, and hot sausages on board. Marian doesn't speak English, but there's usually no communication problem once you're sailing away. Waldermar Popowski offers a similar deal for 120 z per person.
Diving
The chirpy Waldermar Popowski from Baza Nurkowa Hel (Kuracyjna 1, Hel; tel. 604/294-009; www.nurek.org), has a basic grip on English and will take you to any shipwrecks of your choice, having identified about 1,700 underwater wreckages on his charts. Fees start from 50 z for a 1-hour dive at the closest-to-shore shipwreck.
Windsurfing, Kite Surfing & Catamaran Sailing
Watersports lovers converge on Puck Bay from mid-June to the end of August. BO Sport (Chaupy 3; tel. 58/674-37-42; www.bosport.pl) has group and individual courses for all levels. A 2-day course starts at 200 z. They also rent wetsuits and equipment. Although they claim to have English-speaking instructors, the command of the English language varies from one instructor to another. Pitch a tent on the campsite or let BO Sport set you up at Arka Hotel in Jastrzebia Góra 10km (6 1/4 miles) away, but they don't provide transfers between Arka and Chaupy. Orka Surfstation (Droga Helska, Chaupy; tel. 601/620-361; www.obozy-windsurfingowe.pl) rents windsurfing gear and catamarans.
