Ski areas around Innsbruck are excellent for winter activity or for summer mountain walks. Five cableways, 44 chairlifts, and surface lifts allow access to the five sunny, snow-covered areas around Innsbruck. In winter, the city is also known for bobsled and toboggan runs and ice-skating rinks.

In summer, you can enjoy tennis at a number of courts, golf on either a 9- or an 18-hole course, and go horseback riding, mountaineering, gliding, swimming, hiking, and shooting.

The Hofgarten, a public park containing lakes and many shade trees, lies north of Rennweg. Concerts are often presented at the Kunstpavillon in the garden in summer.
