Things To Do in Kalmar

Kalmar Attractions

Still surrounded by parts of its old fortified walls, the 17th-century New Town is a warren of cobblestone streets and market squares. Despite the name, this town was created in 1647, after a devastating fire that caused the townspeople to move away from the old town to this one on Kvarnholmen. If you're pressed for time, you can feel secure in knowing that only Kalmar Slott, the Renaissance castle, ranks as a "must see."
