Built in the 1960s, this behemoth on the Planty ring is a cheery conference and group tour hotel. Busloads of tourists pull up in the wide forecourt all year round—which means that individual travelers are either shut out, or they can snag great deals here on the weeks when groups haven't filled the place. As for the rooms: they're what you'd expect in a place that has this sort of turn-over, by which I mean they're bland in their looks, but well-maintained and though they don't have to be, most are quite roomy. The staff is efficient and the location is a good one: about a seven-minute walk from the center of town.
