Quinta das Carvalhas
An emblematic estate dating back to 1759 and belonging to the Real Companhia Velha (Old Royal Company) set up around the same time to regulate port production. Dramatically set on the steep, terraced hills of the Douro's south bank, it produces great table wines, extra-virgin olive oil and famed ports. The store and tasting rooms are open daily 10am–1pm and 2–7pm in spring and summer, 2–6pm in fall and winter. Walking tours, guided visits by bus or foot, and harvest participation all available with booking.
