Still a few years from completion, Las Catalinas is an entire posh beach town being designed by a group of developers. The core of the city—an almost Mediterranean-like grid of winding, cobblestone streets lined with clay-tile topped townhouses—is intact, and a beach club, a few restaurants, and the first of two planned hotels are up and running. Up in the hills, more houses and residential developments are being built, as well as a school. Sustainability is a key feature here, and the development includes a major reforestation project and wastewater management.
