Hotel La Posada Regia
The two buildings renovated to make this hotel neatly bracket León’s period of greatest importance: One dates from the 14th century and the other from the 19th. Furnishings evoke the latter, with their Isabelline lines (comparable to Victorian) and extensive use of silk broadcloth upholstery. The family that runs the Regia and its tavern took advantage of the buildings’ different architecture to expose beams in some rooms and to strip plaster from brick or stone walls in others. The color palette favors bold, saturated warm tones. Many of the spacious bathrooms have corner tubs. Top-floor rooms, tucked under the eaves, are the most romantic. The central location makes the Posada Regia very convenient for seeing the sights. Parking garage is down the street.
