Hotel Posada Regia
The two buildings renovated to make this hotel neatly bracket León’s period of greatest importance as one dates from the 14th century and the other from the 19th. The furnishings evoke the latter, with their Isabelline lines (comparable to Victorian) and the extensive use of silk broadcloth as upholstery. The family that runs the Regia and its tavern took advantage of the different architecture of the buildings to expose beams in some rooms and to strip plaster from brick or stone walls in others. The color palette tends to favor bold, saturated, warm tones. Many of the spacious bathrooms have corner tubs. Top-floor rooms, tucked under the eaves, are the most romantic. The central location makes the Posada Regia very convenient for seeing the sights.
